INTERNSHIPS

TITLE: JURY SELECTION/LITIGATION SUPPORT INTERN – UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY

This is an unpaid/credit only internship.  Selected interns must enroll in an internship course at their college/university prior to starting the internship.  Interns will be required to complete a minimum of 100 hours. 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Undergraduate student interns will observe and participate in jury selection during criminal trials, conduct post-trial telephonic interviews with jurors, write post-trial interview reports and assist with case or trial related projects and statistics.

Interns will also assist with litigation support tasks, including converting audio and video discovery files to commonly used formats, setting up video calls between attorneys and detention facilities, and electronically processing incoming discovery. This includes downloading, extracting, and verifying files to ensure accuracy against discovery receipts. Interns may also participate in trial exhibit preparation and have exposure to reviewing digital forensic reports.

HOURS:
The minimum number of hours for the summer internship is 200 hours. Internships during the fall and spring require a minimum of 160 hours. Students looking for a long-term opportunity, more than one quarter/semester, are encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should be mature, self-starters with the ability to work independently and must demonstrate strong attention to detail. Interviewing, report writing and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required.

Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, or similar product, and the ability to accurately manage digital files to ensure data integrity is highly preferred. Good communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks. An interest in legal technology and the litigation process is highly desirable.

Resume should include any video/audio editing programs and file sharing platforms such as Dropbox.com that the student is familiar with.
